Grigsby | Newborn

by Brooke on May 4, 2012

This little fella was hands down the easiest newborn we have ever photographed! Usually the newborn session takes anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on the baby… there is lots of eating, pooping and peeing and then sleeping. Tons of work goes into those cute sleepy babies!
This morning we arrived and Grigsby was asleep on mama’s chest, we immediately got together all the props we wanted to use, which were mostly Currituck themes (Mons and Josh and Currituck for life!.) Their home is filled with antiques, decoys, old duck prints… so of course, these had to be incorporated!
Once we started photographing him, he was asleep for an hour, woke up and wanted to eat and was right back to sleep! This is only the second time we haven’t been pooped or peed on, we don’t mind either, but it’s a special treat to leave clean!
Loved all the ideas Carrie and Candace came up with! Mons and Josh are more traditional so a photo with all their silver/crystal set up was perfect!

Portrait Party for Relay For Life

by Brooke on May 1, 2012

We had the best time at the portrait party on Sunday! Renee Landry set up the most amazing backdrops, the lemonade stand and teepee were our favorites but they were all stinkin’ adorable!!! Pledger’s Palace organized it all for their student’s and families with the proceeds benefiting Relay For Life. If you are looking for a preschool, this is a fabulous one! Wonderful teachers in large classrooms, it is crazy clean and super duper secure.
All the families were so sweet and the kiddos were soooooo well behaved, listened and were in the best mood, despite it being a bit chilly! It was wondersum to meet everyone, thank you so much for coming to play with us and for supporting Relay for Life!

Sifer and her Puppy

by Brooke on April 15, 2012

I had the pleasure of photographing our little star, Sifer today! She has gotten the chubbiest little cheeks since the last time I saw her. I wanted to throw her into a pile of flowers, so that’s what I did… in celebration of spring! So cute. And I think I could just eat her puppy up. I think the little girl is only 2 weeks old and she was such a trooper for her photo session. Anyway, here are several of my faves.

We had the best time at our Easter Portrait Party! Carrie brought her super toot chicks and Renee Landry Style brought her sweet bunny, Pickles. One of her friends brought their phenomenal angora bunny but Pickles was a little more sociable.

Renee is an amazing designer, here is a link to a monster truck party, an underseas party, and our book release portrait party that she designed.

All the props that Renee, Carrie and Candace set up were perfect! Renee’s purple bike and Easter Tree were a huge hit along with the bunny/carrots/cabbage she brought! Many thanks to these girls for all their hard work! It’s such an honor to be able to work with such talented and creative artists and the cutest kids in 50 states!

We had 4 stations set up and had 2 families come at a time with 3 photographers, one at each station. Whoever finished their station first would take the family to the Easter tree.

Candace photographed the bunnies and carrots for most the day, Carrie had the balloon, bike, tractor and chicks and I had the field, white frame and sometimes the Easter tree. Of course this all changed and we all shot at each station throughout the day.

Carrie was the rockstar photographing the flying children, these boys were a riot, they LOVED being tossed so high! Candace had the two babies, Sifer and Preston, all to herself. I was surprised Carrie and Candace didn’t argue over this, they are both baby crazy! Hee hee. But Carrie was LOVING the chicks and balloon!

Many thanks to everyone who came to play with us, your families were so much fun!

First Haircut

by Brooke on March 8, 2012

Olivia at Salon Swank in Kitty Hawk did a phenomenal job on Carson’s first haircut! I know, it’s kind of weird to cherish a first haircut so much, but it really means a ton! It can make your baby not look like a baby anymore, it gives them a “man made” style that isn’t completely natural and after waiting for more than 3 years, you want to make sure it’s done just the way you want! It’s shorter and not in his eyes but still looks completely natural and it’s still long, which I love! These sweet Outer Banks babies just need long hair, right?
Carson had a ball, he adored Olivia’s belly, he thought it was a riot that there was a baby in it, it was the funniest joke he had ever heard! Thank you for making this sooooo fun!

Baby Sifer | 2 Weeks Young

by Brooke on March 2, 2012

We had the best morning photographing this beautiful little newborn baby!
Sifer Mayes is such a sweet little gal! Her great grandpa walked over to see her right when we were about to begin shooting, perfect timing!! I love seeing her brand new little fingers and toes with his which have such a story to tell.
Olivia and Hunter looked so rested and at ease with being parents, they were up for anything! And of course they had super toot outfits and props already laid out for her! BABY LOVE! If you haven’t yet, check out Salon Swank’s Boutique, adorable beebster clothes! My favorite was the crab outfit, couldn’t be more suiting for these two, owners of “I Got Your Crabs.” They had crab pots everywhere and the least crabby baby ever to put with them.
We used mega yummy popcorn from the Popcorn Shoppe, thank you Lindsey + Ted, it was perfect!
Carrie and Candace captured some beautiful images and were the best prop stylists and beebster helpers ever!
