The rain and clouds parted minutes before these two said “I Do” at Sanctuary Vineyards. It was a gorgeous morning and a fabulous evening with rain in the middle of the day. The clouds made for beautiful lighting and cooled the day off. It couldn’t have been more perfect!

Everyone was glued to their phones checking the forecast but Kathryn’s mama didn’t want her to look outside at the rain, she knew it would clear up and there would be no worries!

While Candace was photographing the gals getting ready, I got to play with the fellas who are total goofballs!

The ladybugs arrived to sunshine and fun!

Tim & Kathryn are so sweet together and laugh non stop!

Her grandpa was a dancing machine!!

Wishing you a lifetime of love and snuggles! Congratulations lovebugs!
The OBX Brides Wedding Show at Sanderling Resort was an absolute blast!! For starters, the location is beyond gorgeous! If you haven’t seen the new renovations at Sanderling make sure you stop by! The pools are phenomenal, the hammock chairs, new airy and modern lobby, fabulous bars, phenomenal restaurants, fire pits… the list goes on and on! It was the perfect location for the show!
The show itself had the best of the best Outer Banks vendors, they are all ones who you know are going to be wonderful to work with, show up early and stay late to make sure they do the best job they can for you.
My favorite thing about this show is the couples could come and relax together, have delicious food, walk around with beer/wine/mixed drinks and really spend time with the vendors and ENJOY planning their wedding.
Here are a few of our favorites from the day!
This is Wendy and her kids, she is one of the wondersum wedding planners you may work with if you’re having your wedding at Sanderling.

Renee Landry Style is the florist/designer who set up the trampoline. She has the funkiest and funnest ideas and is incredibly talented!

And here are some of the adorable brides and couples who came to play with us!

Congratulations to all the couples and the vendors who made the OBX Bride’s show so special!! And a huge thanks to Sanderling for hosting it and OBX for having the show!!

We are so so soooo proud of all the kids and adults who participate in Outer Banks Bootcamps! It is such hard work and from what I hear incredibly awarding and addicting!
Many thanks to Outer Banks Child Magazine for featuring these amazing kiddos!

Erin and Nate had the most gorgeous day for their New Bern wedding on Saturday. They got married in the church where her stepdad is the preacher man and had their reception at the New Bern Convention Center.
Erin had an absolutely gorgeous dress which fit her perfectly and wore a garter from the ETSU University where she played college soccer.

I love the anticipation and innocence Candace captured of the flower girl before she was about to walk down the aisle.

These photos of Erin dancing with her grandpa are priceless!! They were having the best time and you can tell the family loved it!! I haven’t seen that much laughter in ages!

I love that the band told Erin to sit on the best man instead of a chair for Nate to remove the garter! That made it soooo much more fun and slightly awkward, heehee.

We didn’t think there would be a sunset or any phenomenal photos as it had been overcast most the day, however, Candace went to check it out and this is what she found. She had to walk the majority of the way over the draw bridge to get these but it was worth it! Isn’t New Bern gorgeous???

I look over and he’s having a dance party all by himself, air guitar, leg up, leaning back, having the time of his life. And he SWEARS he was dancing with 2 young ladies! Hmmmm.. I don’t see them, do you?

Congratulations lovebugs, can’t wait to play again soon!!

My family has loved being outside this past week! The weather has been gorgeous here in NC and we’re making the most of it! We get a few short bursts of perfect spring days and then it’s back to cold and rainy, constant flip-flopping weather.
Last Sunday, my kids spent the day running around the yard in their bathing suits playing ‘survivor’! They loaded back packs with supplies: water, oranges, Nerf guns, and even sweat shirts! The mud was their camouflage! It had not rained, and our drive way is sand- so that’s the best they got!

For years, I have wanted chickens. My husband has been against it because, well- he knows he’d be doing most of the work for them (not denying that!). Finally, this year he’s agreed! I did tell him that he may name them after the members of the Wu-Tang Clan!
We are absolutely smitten with these little ladies now! They are finally getting big enough to peck around the yard and be really funny!

We have six chickens, four Rhone Island Reds, one Leghorn, and a Wyandotte. The kids and I have secretly named them after Harry Potter characters. We’ve spent the past year and a hlaf reading the books as a family and finally finished. The Reds are our favorite Weasley’s: Ron, Ginny, Fred and George. The black one is obviously Sirius, and the white one (our loner) is Draco Malfoy.

We’re so ready for Summer! ..and fresh eggs!

Alice is the most beautiful little lady, as much as she looks like her big brother, Austin, she has a personality all of her own! Her sweet lips melt my heart. I can’t wait to see what she’s like as she grows up, Austin adores monster trucks and loves to play them with her.
Frieda and Ben say the second is easier as you know what to expect and what is happening but it’s much harder having a toddler running around and having to take care of 2 kiddos all the time, however, they make it look super duper easy.
Alice Elizabeth Harris Woody- they do have a hard time finding names that sound good with “Harris Woody.” Ben really loved the name “Ada” but “Ada Woody” wasn’t cutting it in Frieda’s mind! They have the best sense of humor and are such great parent’s. It’s pretty amazing how 2 people find one another and make beautiful families.

Mason is all boy and doesn’t slow down for one minute! He sure does love his tractors and knows them well. He was so curious about the farm and all of the equipment, of course he knew more than me already!
I love his little bow tie and suspenders, my fave accessory for little guys! Thanks for coming from Edenton to visit, hope you had a great time at the Grave Digger afterwards!

I feel so incredibly honored to be trusted with the task of photographing a birth. To be able to capture the absolute first breath of life! I mean,WOW! It doesn’t much more exciting than that!
Frieda was well past her due date, and at BMP, we were nervous with all of our other shoots, classes and out of town trips that we wouldn’t be able to shoot her birth! Brooke and I were both on call, and always with enough camera equipment ready. Frieda kept us up to date on all that was going on with doctors appts, contractions (..or braxton hicks!).
Finally, on St. Patty’s Day, (after laboring for two days!) I received the call from Ben that they were leaving to go to the hospital, but not to rush, and they would call me with their doctor update (all while Frieda is having contractions in the background!). It’s a 45 min drive to the hospital and I didn’t want to miss it, so of course, I left right then!

I’m glad I didn’t wait! When I got to the hospital, Momma Frieds is already at 8cm and being a rockstar with no pain meds! Ben and Frieda had a birth plan typed up with explicit instructions for the hospital. No pain medication was to be offered, as this was ‘pain with purpose’.

A little over an hour after I arrived, at 6:35pm, Miss Alice Elizabeth was born! Frieda had a great support team consisting of her husband Ben, friend Monica and their Doula, Donna. I was a teary mess, wiping of my face to take photographs! Such a beautiful moment in this family’s history!

We’re so happy for this family! Alice has a loving family and an awesome big brother, Austin! I’m sure she will grow to love monster trucks and Thomas the train.
Happy Birthday Alice! Such a cool birthday too!!!
