John has hundreds of pounds of arugula growing and one of Poppy’s favorite things to do is to go out each day and pick it with him. She always tries the raw greens but much prefers it as pesto! If you’re in need of any fresh organic veggies, John will be doing the veggie boxes again this summer!
Big news around Sanctuary Vineyards, The winery and tasting room are almost finished!!! We can’t wait for you to come see us! Not only will it be open to the public but it’s available for private events and weddings. Here are a few photos from a ceremony and reception in the vineyards.
John has been harvesting like crazy this week in preparation for Hurricane Irene! Poppy went over and was helping today. Here he was showing her the grapes, loved their little heads together! My little collaborators!
It’s always such a blast at the wine and music festivals but this year’s grape stomp took the cake!!! John, everyone stomping and anyone within 20 feet got graped!! It’s a great event for families and kids as well as adults, there was a barrel rolling contest, hayride, music, shopping and wino… what more could you ask for?? The next one will be in May, come play!!
John has photos of his grandpa, dad and uncle moving the corn from when he was a kid, here are a few photos from now. It’s so neat how family businesses are passed down from generation to generation and that farming and the “simple” life still exist in the land of blogs and twitter. I sit on my computer most of the day while they are out playing with their quackers (ducks/geese) and tending the land. We’re really lucky to be a part of this.
