Whew, it was a busy weekend! We started with my dad’s 65th birthday party, Carrie + Candace had a beautimus wedding at The Sanderling and Sunday at 9am we had Poppy’s birthday party. Yes, I know, it was early, but I’m not a schedule keeper and it’s the only time during the day I know she will be awake. We did reward grown ups with mimosas for getting up, getting ready and coming to play so early!
My dad had no idea we were having a party for him! Hunter and Olivia with “I Got You Crabs” brought over hundreds of crabs earlier in the day, these are his favorites. We had hard and soft shell. We told him some friends were coming over but he had no idea it was his friends! The guest appearance were Ed and Margaret who he was great friends with when we lived in Corolla in the early 1980′s. He hasn’t seen them since then! Bill and Carol and Janet and Carl are his other besties who came to play. I can’t believe these two couples kept it a secret! John and I had a guest appearance from our friends and my amazing editor from Vermont, Sarie and Chris. This was her first crab picking and she did great! The crabs got loose all over the kitchen floor and we found one we hadn’t caught 2 days after the party hiding under the sink, scared us to pieces and gave us a good laught!
Thank you so much to each and every one of you who came to celebrate with us, we love you all!

The only survivor!

Ok blog readers, I need reasons why and why not to get a second dog…
I can’t keep my mind off of this Bulldog.
NO:
more work/food
tear things up
can’t go on trips as easily
Weezy may have to be confined to the kitchen instead of having full roam of the house if this one is a chewer
expensive
another dog means less time with my current doggie, Weezy, baby and hubby
YES:
I want a snuggler and another doggie to play with. Not enough reason, right??

It’s bittersweet going to Charlotte to see my grandma, I love that Poppy gets to see her and that Poppy makes gma so very happy, but it’s sad that gma has no idea who we are. Alzheimer’s is such a terrible disease, it’s hard to say which is worse, losing your body or losing your mind. At least this way, she seems happy for the most part and has no idea what’s going on.
Here are a few photos of my gma, aunt, cousin, me and Poppy.

You would think that as a photographer, we would have have tons of family portraits… however, Poppy is almost a year, and these are the first ones we have had taken! Many many thanks to Mary Heath for the gorgeous photos!
John has started growing veggies for local restaurants and has started a veggie co-op, so these images were taken in his greenhouse and while he was planting his squash.
Mary Heath is located in Charlotte, NC… if you are looking for a photographer to document your family or pets, contact her! mail@maryheath.com

Poppy has been taking ISR (infant swim resource) classes for the past couple of months. They are 5 days a week for 10 minutes a day. It is one on one instruction where they learn how to float if they fall in the water. It is so amazing to see such a little bit be able to go underwater and then come back up and lay on her back. It’s a ton of work for her but she has passed and was pleased as punch with her trophy!
If you are in the Outer Banks and are interested in this class, the instructor is Christen Buchert: theswimlady@gmail.com
It takes dedication to get to all the classes and schedule any trips around them but it is so worth it. Now that Poppy is walking well, the first thing she did back at the sound was head straight for the water. It was terrifying but at least she has one extra skill to keep her from drowning.

Each year I get together with Wes from Holiday House Weddings for a creative shoot. Something that is just completely fun and for us! He puts together the outfits and “looks” and Cassie from Divas hair salon did the girls awesome makeup. We had two amazing dancers/models, one is the fabulous wedding planner, Simone, from Je T’aime Weddings. We also worked with Tehra Burton from Diva’s Day Spa on a shoot to win a chance to style hair backstage at the NYC Fashion Week. Please VOTE for her!!! Below is a photo of the awesome hairstyle!

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since our sweet little bean was born!!! I’ve learned so much that I could have never learned from a book and have experienced more love and support than I could have ever imagined! We’re so thankful for all our family, friends and super amazing clients for all you have done for us, your super thoughtful emails, letters, packages and all your happy and excited wishes! And a mega huge THANK YOU to Carrie for all her advice, help and extra hard work while we have been transitioning into mommyhood! We couldn’t do it without all of you!! Here are a few photos of her 1 month later!

Here are a couple of images of the wild horses on our road in North Swan Beach, the little beebster makes my heart happy! We saw them on our way to CPR class at the Firehouse.
