I was soooo excited to meet these two boys, we photographed Megan + Michael’s wedding 4 years ago, and are soooo incredibly honored to be able to document their new fammy sammy!
Wyatt, Zachary and their first born, Calli are three peas in a pod. The boys love laying there watching Calli and she likes to run off and explore, come back, sniff them, give them kisses and then head out again. They are going to have fun growing up together!
Mom + Dad have mastered TEEEEEEAAAAAMMMM WORK! When one boy starts to get fussy without looking at each other they break out in the exact same song and the kiddos get quiet, listen and smile, it’s like magic. They make parenting look so easy, especially for 2!
Thank you like crazy for having me out to play with you!

We were sooooo excited to see the supermoon this weekend, it was raining on Saturday but we got to enjoy it on Sunday! Candace and I have been planning this shoot for over a month, going through all the ideas, what we envisioned, how to make it work… the logistics were rather difficult but it made us laugh and do lots of problem solving! Thank goodness her hubby is an electrician!
We have a blast bouncing ideas around and making it happen! If there is anything you have in mind, no matter how wild it may seem, let us know! Or if you would like a dusk/nighttime shoot or photos on the cloud, we’d love it!
More details on everything the shoot entailed and some behind the scenes photos will be coming soon.

We had such a great time at the portrait party last weekend, Carrie and Candace had a blast playing with the props! A few behind the scenes silly pictures…

This little fella was hands down the easiest newborn we have ever photographed! Usually the newborn session takes anywhere from 2-6 hours depending on the baby… there is lots of eating, pooping and peeing and then sleeping. Tons of work goes into those cute sleepy babies!
This morning we arrived and Grigsby was asleep on mama’s chest, we immediately got together all the props we wanted to use, which were mostly Currituck themes (Mons and Josh and Currituck for life!.) Their home is filled with antiques, decoys, old duck prints… so of course, these had to be incorporated!
Once we started photographing him, he was asleep for an hour, woke up and wanted to eat and was right back to sleep! This is only the second time we haven’t been pooped or peed on, we don’t mind either, but it’s a special treat to leave clean!
Loved all the ideas Carrie and Candace came up with! Mons and Josh are more traditional so a photo with all their silver/crystal set up was perfect!

John has hundreds of pounds of arugula growing and one of Poppy’s favorite things to do is to go out each day and pick it with him. She always tries the raw greens but much prefers it as pesto! If you’re in need of any fresh organic veggies, John will be doing the veggie boxes again this summer!

We had the best time at the portrait party on Sunday! Renee Landry set up the most amazing backdrops, the lemonade stand and teepee were our favorites but they were all stinkin’ adorable!!! Pledger’s Palace organized it all for their student’s and families with the proceeds benefiting Relay For Life. If you are looking for a preschool, this is a fabulous one! Wonderful teachers in large classrooms, it is crazy clean and super duper secure.
All the families were so sweet and the kiddos were soooooo well behaved, listened and were in the best mood, despite it being a bit chilly! It was wondersum to meet everyone, thank you so much for coming to play with us and for supporting Relay for Life!

Wow. I can’t believe Logan is a year old already, it doesn’t seem possible! Here are his newborn photos, and him at 6 months and 9 months. He is the happiest little fella, always ready with a smile and giggles!
Tara + Eddie are so creative, I just adore all the details they created for Logan’s first birthday party! My favorite is the nutritional value on the back of the water bottles!

And the marshmallows… adorable!

The Elmo ball tent was such a hit!

Logie’s whale smash cake was the most adorable cake ever! He had a ball eating and playing in it, he wanted nothing more than to kiss his dad and to get icing all over both of them!

Uh-OH Spaghetti Os!

He also got a wagon for his birthday, perfect place to rip open all his gifts! Of course, the paper on the gifts was the BEST part!

Thank you like crazy for having me document his party! Happy birthday to him and to yall, you were working super hard a year ago this time! xo

I couldn’t believe it when I got the call yesterday at 3:30pm from dad to tell me Mons was in labor and their doula was on her way! This is their first beebster and he wasn’t due until April 28th and there it was April 26th, how was that even possible?
I packed up my equipment and a toothbrush and waited until the next call which was that they were leaving for the hospital, I hopped in the car and arrived in Chesapeake soon afterwards.
Thank goodness they had a their doulas, Jacqueline and Chris from Birth Journeys! They were a tremendous help in moving mama so she was comfortable and getting her through each contraction all night long! They were so calming and a true blessing to have!
This is mama’s story to tell but I will say that she was a ROCKSTAR! Contractions were every 2 minutes and strong for 22 hours. Baby Grigsby arrived at 11:05am on April 27, 2012. We are all exhausted and soooo very excited for his safe arrival!
Daddypants was a huge help all through labor.

I love Dad and Gma’s expressions, this is the first time they see Grigsby as he’s delivered and put directly on mama’s chest.

A love like none other.

Thank you so much for having me document this time in your lives and for allowing me to be in the room for it all. It was such an honor and blessing to see this little miracle come into the world.

With 2 has come more temper tantrums, screaming and independence but along with all that it has also brought sentences, jumping and singing, “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” mainly and a few words to “Shoo Fly.” Each day is more fun than the last and waking up to hear “Mummy! Mummy!” is the best sound in the world. Happy Birthday Poppy Day!
Many thanks to Hello My Sweet for the fabulous rainbow birthday cake and to MiMi + Bubba for her party dress and my Gma for her toot birthday hat! We love you!

I can’t believe Poppy is 2! Today is her actual birthday and 2 years ago at this time I was walking around the vineyards trying to get labor started, then I gave up and went to BJs to deliver some photos to Gena with Platinum Party Planning.
I was sure she wasn’t going to come on her due date! But I was wrong, she was very considerate and did just that!
At 3pm I turned on Avatar and was wondering why I was having such bad lower back cramps. They didn’t feel like contractions or what I thought contractions were supposed to feel like. At 4pm we were on our way to Elizabeth City to the hospital all the time I was sure it was false labor and they were going to send me home. We didn’t have gas in the car so we had to stop at 7/11, meanwhile I was beginning to think maybe it was real…
When we got to the hospital they checked me in and Poppy was born at 10:30pm at a whopping 6lbs even.
We’ve had the best time over the last 2 years, can’t believe she’s our baby! It’s such a blessing having her grandparents so close by. My dad is in town this weekend for his and Poppy’s birthday and they are reading downstairs right now.
Here are some photos from her 2nd birthday party.
She loves smoochin’ Austin…

here she is last year kissing him at her party!

I adore her little tutu outfit from Salon Swank and her monogrammed roos that Bubbles made for her!

Love her cake Hello My Sweet made for her!

Here she is at her first birthday party, not sure what to think of her cake!

Poppy is pouting because we wouldn’t let her have a 6th lollipop! How she got 5, I’m not sure! That was her first and last lollipop for a very, very long time!
