Elizabeth City Newborn Portraits | Baby Marin

Elizabeth City Newborn Portraits non traditional newborn portraits

We started shooting around 7am on their dock so we had some shade before the sun came up over the trees.  We photographed all the family and their super sweet pup Chloe. Once Russ had to go to work, we went inside from some “girl time” with Court, Marin and Harper.

Little Harper is already proving to be an amazing big sister!  She is so happy to lay with and love on baby Marin who is so laid back and loves to snuggle!   It’s so fun to look back at Harper’s newborn portraits and see how similar her and Marin look!  They both were born with super dark hair, although Harper had a head full of it!  Now it’s stil just as thick and gorgeous but much blonder than before.

Courtney and Russ are over the moon with this little bundle of joy! I love seeing new moms and how radiant they are, glowing and so in love!

It’s such a treat to have the opportunity to watch and document babies as they grow and change, the “See Me Grow” packages are my favorite for just this reason!

Marin fell asleep on her mama and slept so peacefully, she was aok being moved anywhere!

Kitty Hawk Pier

Kitty Hawk Beach Portraits

I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since these two got married! They had a beautiful wedding in Hatteras where we frolicked by the sound and on the beach and the following day I went back to document their daughter’s 7th birthday!  Audrey has always called me “The Freaky Lady” because I would be in their home taking photos of them, pretty funny!!

We wanted to incorporate a pier into their photos this time so we went to the Kitty Hawk Pier, and as always, it was gorgeous!!

Here she is 13 and all grown up, so respectful and sweet! I can only hope for this when Pops is her age!

They come down each year and stay in Hatteras, this year they have a camper, they travel a ton in it and take the kiddos on so many adventures!  If John and I were better driving partners, I’d think of doing this… he likes to listen to music in the car, I don’t.  Pretty much a no go for us!

I love how much mom and daughter and father and son look alike!

OBX Beach Portraits

These two look like a couple that should be on the cover of a Nicholas Sparks book!  They are gorgeous and so in love!  They have the sweetest little boy, Tripp who adores Darth Vader.  To get him to giggle, all you had to do was bring up Darth, so funny!!  His favorite part was sitting with his parents and being tickled, I can’t blame him! Snuggles are the best!!

Their shoot was on a typical Outer Banks day, you never know if it’s going to rain or shine, it was raining when I arrived, then super sunny, then rain with a beautiful rainbow when I left.  We played in it and enjoyed being cooled off.

Sanderling Resort offers so many beautiful places to shoot, beach, grass, pools, the sound… something for everyone! And if it is raining, the inside is gorgeous as well!

Their blues and whites matched the browns, navy and oranges that surround Sanderling perfectly and you couldn’t even see the raindrops on their clothes!

He was running and fell accidentally and then laid there and posed for me, he cracked me up!! Once I was finished shooting he pretended nothing happened and got right up.

Manteo Wedding | Marshes Light

Outer Banks Destination Wedding

Brian and Rachel were married this weekend at Marsh’s Light in Manteo, NC.  They lucked out by the weather!  We had Hurricane Arthur blow through just the day before and leave Manteo knee deep in water!  The sun came out and the tides and wind blew out the water leaving businesses to air out their shops and rugs.

The reception was held at 108 Budleigh in downtown Manteo.  The couple play a lot of Scrabble, so there were tiles everywhere with little love notes.

The boys got ready at Clemon’s cottage, just a couple of blocks down the street from the reception venue.  The house is quaint- and tiny!  The groom and his brother are 6ft 5in+, so it was a bit hilarious to walk in and see them ducking the low thresholds!

The girls got ready upstairs at 108 Budleigh.  Mom and sis helped to get Rachel into her gown.  I love the picture to the right showing just arms.  It almost looks like one person’s double jointed arm!

Sis was quick in grabbing a pic with her snapchat.  They were a big help in fixing, lacing, and even a bit of a hair cut !  The Embellisher’s did a great job with all the flowers and details at reception!  I love the complementary color choice with the blue hydrangeas and orange flowers.

Marshes light is gorgeous!  After ceremony and family portraits, everyone was dismissed to enjoy a delicious cocktail hour by the Goodlife Gourmet.  I took Rachel and Brian on a little frolic around the lighthouse and downtown Manteo.

Sweet moments in the little nook’s and crannies around Marsh’s light.

DJ Bruce had everyone up and shaking during the reception!  A few guests were really impressed that he was spinning real vinyl!

Where has the Time Gone??

Manteo family portraits | non traditional family portraits | fun beach portraits

It’s hard to believe these two have been married since 2006 and now have 3 amazing kiddos! They make it look so easy and they look the same as they did 8 years ago!  I love, love, love that they have me photograph their gorgeous family each year!  Watching them grown from a couple to a family of 5 and then all of the kids begin as babies, turn to toddlers and now Avery has lost several teeth is amazing!  Here are some links to our past shoots.  Here Avery was just little bit and was potty trainging at Sanctuary Vineyards, the following year we went to the Whalehead Club,  then Surfin’ Spoon, and last year they came to the farm to playin the sprinkler and with all of our critters for their Farm Life shoot.

This year we went to the waterfront in downtown Manteo on Allison’s birthday!  As always, they are up for anything and everything and the kiddos are so cooperative while still being kids.  This family is all about teamwork and sticking together.  Avery helps the littles and they love to hug and snuggle on her.

Many many thanks for being such fabulous friends and sharing your love with me!! XO
