Tenerife | Day 9

Tenerife | Day 9

La Laguna, Canarias, Spain

We woke up to the sound of the ocean slamming against the rocks and the rain pouring down the sidewalks but still decided to venture out.
On our way to La Laguna, Canarias, Spain to the Science Museum we had to drive the only way in or out, the road on the edge of the cliff. We dodged large boulders that had fallen down the mountains and drive through deeper than I was comfortable with muddy rivers. However, on the drive back it was a gorgeous sunny day, the rocks had been removed from the road and the water had receded.
The town is the oldest preserved town on Tenerife, very walkable and every 4th shop was a bakery, yum! We enjoyed a black and white cookie and a chocolate cake layered with wafers. Most other businesses are closed on Sundays so it was relatively slow in the city.
When we got back we made noodles and sauce which Peaches loves to eat while it’s cooking on the counter, raw or not, doesn’t matter.
Once Peaches went to bed, Poppy and I hiked up to the cemetery which is a mausoleum since the ground is too rocky and steep to bury the dead. We had a gorgeous view of the city below us and talked about death which was peaceful, funny and unexpected. Conversations with Pops go to the end of the earth so it was a fun hike down filled with many questions and her riding a play car like a pony.
